9.04 connectivity?

hell0 This problem is very similar to my problem with 9.10 internet connection last month. I have installed 9.04 on a colleague's laptop. At work we have wimax network & he can connect to the web. At home he cannot open any web-pages or run updates. Sorry for the lack of information. If you are requesting more let me know as I will be on that box at lunch time. I really hope we can fix this as it's his first time on Linux & he is enjoying it. I read there are some issues with ipv6 & static ip's in 9.04 & 9.10.
