The Desired Outcome To allow visitors with wifi laptops to access my wireless www connection, without unduly compromising the existing network functionality, as it works now. The Present Set Up Telephone line > modem > IPCOP server > NIC > 5-port switch > PC1 and PC2 and D-Link Wireless Router (WR) > network printer [cabled] and PC3 [cabled] and wifi laptop. Devices connected to the WR all use its LAN jackpoints. All devices on fixed IP addresses. The Fiddle The juggling that Rene suggested was to turn the WR into a sub-network, tweaking a whole lot of settings. That required the cable from the switch to the WR to be moved from a LAN jackpoint, to the Internet jackpoint. That allows the laptop to access the www (and network printer), but (it seems) cuts off the network printer, the WR and the laptop from PC1 and PC2, on the main LAN. Workaround? _______________________________________________ HBLUG mailing list [email protected] http://www.linux.net.nz/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hblug
