Don't laugh, Rene. Both were supplied by Telecon!
Just had a peek at Geekzone and noted someone
else describing the TG585 modems as heaps of crap.

The cabinet / conklin / exchange could be a real source,
perhaps? The D-Link has lots of holes in signal continuity,
which the TG585 doesn't, if only it would keep working
for more than a few hours before dying!

At least a third 'new' modem will give another perspective
on the possible source of the problem! Despite the D-Link
not being highly regarded, at least it's worked, mostly,
for the last six years!

It all seems a bit bizarre!
