Hi everyone Just wanted to share a little success story! I posted a few weeks ago about problems with my laptop's keyboard - it turned out also to have a failed motherboard. As the computer is less than three years old I was less than thrilled and phoned Compaq about it. ( I had also been advised that the same model was recalled in the US because of the very same issue.) They weren't interested and simply advised that technology does fail! When I phoned about buying a new motherboard I was advised the part was obsolete. I was incensed at this! So I wrote to the CEO/Managing Director of HP in the US, as I couldn't find a NZ office anywhere. I didn't really expect a response, or maybe I thought I'd get a placatory letter ... However they referred the matter on to the NZ office, and as a gesture of goodwill they replaced the keyboard, motherboard and battery, and updated the DMI utility! I have the laptop back with all my data intact :-) It seems it pays to make a fuss sometimes .... Regards Rose
