Proposed HBLUG Meetings for 2011

Hi Everyone,

I will be returning to the Bay next week to work in Napier for 10
weeks. Once I get settled in I think it would be great to organise a
LUG meeting as nothing appears to have happened in the 18 months or so
I have been gone. Our usual old venue at Taradale Upholstery will be
available, it's just a matter of pinning down a date that suits. I
could maybe do Weds 15th June and then 1st Weds of July and August,
then Weds 31st August (as August has 5 Wednesdays and I will be
leaving after that). If anyone has been unable to attend in the past
due to the first Wednesday not working for you, please speak up and we
can try and arrange something different.

We can do the usual thing where people bring along a box and get help,
I know we have had several new Ubuntu releases since we last had a
meeting and I'm sure some of you may be itching for help to upgrade,
or to try our a new flavour of Linux (I hear Mepis and linux mint are
popular these days). I have been living and working around the North
Island, I have spend 5 months in Auckland where I made it to a few
AuckLUG meetings, about 7 months in Hamilton where I have been to some
WLUG meetings and saturday workshops, and 5 months in Rotorua where I
headed over the hill to Tauranga a few times to see the folks at
BOPLUG. So I can share some tales of what some of the other north
island LUGs are like and the things they get up to, and some of the
handy tricks I have learnt.

I am also keen to meet up on a more social level and chat about
anything technology related - be it dinner somewhere, takeaways before
a meeting or grabbing a pint at the local.
