It is interesting to combine Homeplug technology and wifi in the same
unit, however I still see this as a very niche product. Wifi is
cheaper, more convenient and sufficient for most peoples needs, and
new standards are (supposedly) pretty quick.

As far the the future goes, the only real way to future proof  new
homes/offices is by structured cabling systems - running cat6 data
cable to a central point, or by running ducts with draw wires so
additional cables can be pulled. This could be very handy for e.g.
living room/home theatre wiring where the cabling requirements can
change quickly due to new technologies.
