Guys ,
We have a software Raid partition , it is running out of space . We want to
increase this partition size by adding a HD , we want to do that without
formatting .
Is it possible ? How if yes.
Here are some details :
This server currently has 2 SCSI HDs (sda & sdb) , 16 GB each .
------------------------- ----------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
/dev/sda |_/boot_(100MB)__| _/swap_(2 GB)_____|________/local
(software raid)_________|
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/dev/sdb |_______________/local (software raid)_______________
_____________________|
/dev/md0 is mounted as /local , this is the partition we want to increase .
We want to add a third HD ,
Here is the output of 'df -h' command :
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda2 5.8G 2.7G 2.7G 50% /
/dev/sda1 99M 8.8M 84M 10% /boot
/dev/md0 25G 23G 1.8G 93% /local
none 504M 0 503M 0% /dev/shm
Here is the output of running 'fdisk /dev/sda' then p
Disk /dev/sda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 2212 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 13 104391 83

/dev/sda2 14 778 6144862+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 779 1039 2096482+ 82
Linux swap
/dev/sda4 1040 2212 9422122+ f
Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/sda5 1040 2212 9422091 fd
Linux raid autodetect
Here is the output of running 'fdisk /dev/sdb' then p
Disk /dev/sdb: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 2212 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 * 1 2212 17767858+ fd
Linux raid autodetect
Any idea ?
Thanks.
