On a desktop machine in my office I switch from Redhat WS 3.0 to ubuntu then to fedora core 3, and back to ubuntu where it has remained for several months now. FC3's install is much nicer, and some of the applications are newer which is very nice ... however, ubuntu makes some saner (imo) default options and I like the software update tools a little bit better. Getting things like DVD playback and such was much easier under ubuntu as well. Just add the apt repository and use the package manager to install it. FC3 involved a lot of downloading, compiling and installing by hand. However, playback was BETTER under FC3 for me than ubuntu. Which, if this was at home I might take into consideration in switching. Networking is a little nicer under FC3 ... i can navigate the network beautifully with the version of Nautilus on FC3, but on ubuntu it seems to crash more often and/or has some display bugs once in a while.
