Meeting went well. Wasn't a large attendance, but the topic wasn't very interesting (at least for the general population). One idea for the Site that was generally well received around the room was the Idea of moving to a pure Wiki site. Possibly powered by MediaWiki (http://wikipedia.sourceforge.net/) What is everyone's opinion on using a Wiki? It would provide a very easy way for people to develop and contribute to the web site. Forums vs. Mailing List The forums get very little traffic. If we keep them, strip them down to one main forum. Freesource suggested that with a wiki design forums wouldn't even really be needed. Most people in the room seem to prefer mailing lists. What does the rest of the group think about forums? Sections: 1) A section for Linux friendly companies, ISPs, etc ... A listing of all the companies in town that use and/or support linux. 2) Game Section. Information about getting games running on Linux. This section would not be a regurgitation of other information on the web, but centered around possible LAN parties, and other events that we hold that dead with gaming. With some planning, it would be very possible to have a LAN party at SRSH by utilizing the down stairs area. 3) A section devoted to new college students. What the group can offer, what WVU offers in the way of linux/unix education, How new students can get involved with the group, etc ... All meeting content should end up on the website, including meeting minutes. Online Voting system: It was generally agreed that we do not need an elaborate system of voting, but some mechanism would be nice. Jonathan will work on this at some point in the future. Our Logo: There is a new logo in the works, some ideas were tossed around the meeting and Jonathan will follow up on those Ideas.
