Yes, you should upgrade regardless of whether you've been breached or not.
RH 7.2 was released in 2001 and no longer receives security updates.

I'm personally using a Linksys router these days to avoid the hassle of
setting up a router from scratch and to avoid having another power-hungry
machine running in my house. There are many distros available specifically
for serving as an internet router/gateway, though if you plan on using it
for more than that (smtp, web, http cache, etc) you'll need to go with a
full-fledged and up-to-date distro. I think there was also some strange
sort of Linux distribution out of Berkely CA that was supposed to be
especially secure, but the name escapes me  ;-)
