Meeting Schedule Planning

I've been trying to plan Morlug's meeting scheduling as far ahead as
twelve months.

Tentative future Meetings:

June 29, 2005:  This is an important meeting because it closes the
process that Michael Bond began back in October that involved several
months of discussions at the Blue Moose.  June was designated as the
time that a vote would be called to decide if positions needed to be
defined and who would fill those positions.  In the interim Michael and
myself have provided leadership.   You should be seeing many emails
about this topic on the list for the next several weeks culminating in
the June meeting.  However, this meeting doesn't have to be fully
devoted to having a vote since most details will be attended to online.
I'm hoping someone steps in and volunteers to do a presentation.
Presently,  David and Ed are considering doing one.

July 27, 2005:  Nothing planned yet.  Grab a slot while it is still
hot!   David?

August 31, 2005??:  Linux InstallFest Meeting  - I haven't set an exact
date for this meeting, but my feelings are that it probably should occur
around the time WVU students have just come back.  I'd greatly
appreciate people's input about this.

September 28, 2005??:  Lan Party - Again this should probably occur
during the Fall and maybe again in the Spring because it's such a
popular meeting idea, but I'd appreciate people's insight.  Ed Bosco's
initiative to improve SRSH's upstairs room's tech. operations will come
in very useful and may be a prerequisite.

Special Meeting:  Morlug/LAW Voting Technology:  This is a potential
future meeting  I've run by the President of the League of Woman
Voters,  Morlug's irc channel,  and Ed Bosco - who gave a five-minute
lightning talk about voting.  LAW is back in session this Fall.  At that
time, they and our group will be able to make a more formal decision
about the logistics of  such a public meeting.  It may or may not be
part of our regular meeting schedule.   If it happens, it will be big
stuff, and most likely will get media coverage.  In the meantime, I'm
asking everyone to consider what they would like to talk about, see
talked about,  what type of meeting format should occur, and whether any
special speakers should be invited.

Oct. - Nov., 2005??

December 28, 2005: Ed Bosco is looking into bringing Bdale Garbee,
former Debian President when he is visiting family in Wheeling.

Jan. 2006 - Mar. 2006??

April 2006: CTS "West Virginia University Computing and Technology
Symposium" - Let's try to man a booth this year.  http://labs.wvu.edu/CTS/

April 26, 2006:  Lightning Talks!  Yes, there will be a repeat of this
excellent format, and you have nearly a full year to prepare.

Other Meeting Ideas:

1. One from Eric:  "I had an idea for a future meeting. Using a format
similar to the lightning meeting, but allowing for more discussion,
different LUG members could discuss "tweaking" and "customizing" their
favorite apps."

2.  Eric talked about giving a Real Time Linux demonstration that would
compliment the presentation he gave tonight.

3.  Eric mentioned several other ideas tonight including a kernel
meeting or kernel scheduling meeting.

Everyone, please send in your input and ideas.  Let the discussions begin.
