I have to agree with David here.  I was running 64-bit Kubuntu on my machine 
for a while, but I encountered many of the problems he mentions and 
eventually switched back to the 32-bit build.  Particularly, my sound wasn't 
working, and a few other hardware issues.  And of course the problems with 
binaries.

I decided it wasn't worth the work.
