Wireless LAN access for Linux

After I finally got wireless network card working on my laptop,
I was confronted with another problem - there is no support for
Linux to access the wireless LAN here at ESB (!). 
I talked to system's admin and he first pointed me to
http://wireless.wvu.edu/config.asp
where I found the instructions for Windows. After 
I told him that I have Linux he
said that I am not supported and have to
find the way to connect on my own. He mentioned something
about PEAP. 

Does anyone have any hint on what can I do to get connected
to that LAN? I'm running SuSe 9.1 on my laptop.
