Web-cameras for Linux

Hi,

I wonder if anyone had experience with using web-cameras on Linux, like 
for teleconferencing with scype or similar?
If so, what brand would you recommend to buy?
I made a quick search and it appears that Logitech's QuickCam might work. 
But it would be nice to hear from someone who really had it working.
