Meeting last night

Just to recap some proposals last night:

1. Conduct informal Morlug gathering, inviting WVU students for free pizza.
2. Setup an account system on morlug.org, so that WVU students can
register for morlug membership online and receive their Morlug
accounts.
3. Introduce membership benefits.
One such benefit can be an easy access to Linux based applications.
Among the possible applications I would name:
a) Games - you know better - I never play games.
b) Octave from octave.org, which is the opensource implementation of
Matlab widely used by engineering and scientific community. Many
engineering students have to use it and the only way they access it
now is though our computer labs. Only a few actually buy and install
the commercial Matlab on their computers. Practically no-one knows
about Octave. I think that the possibility to obtain a free 'Matlab'
with Morlug membership will attract many students to Morlug.
c) Other useful linux applications.

4. Publish something interesting on the website, even
Government+Microsof conspiracy stories would be great.

With regard to item 3 above, what we could do is to provide every new
member with the bootable linux CD, from which they can start linux
without actually installing Linux on their computers, and
repartitioning their Windows HDs.
And we can also provide them with the pre-compiled binaries for those
applications I mentioned above, which we make available from our
website, and which would be compiled to run under that version of
Linux which we provide on the CD.

We can also introduce a reward system, like those students who first
time installed Linux on their computers will receive a Tux-T-shirt, or
something like that.
