Description: As an engineering intern, you will be working together with senior Linux Kernel Engineers in the development and verification of Linux Kernel, device drivers and root filesystem for Broadcom Settop boxes. Responsibilities may include: - Porting, maintenance, and performance improvement of Linux kernel - Developing network, serial, or block device drivers - Building root filesystem for embedded platforms - Profiling and debugging Linux Kernel - Testing Broadcom Reference Settop boxes Job Requirements: 1. MS or PhD students are preferable, junior and senior year undergraduate students will be considered, too. 2. Excellent academic background (3.50/4.00 GPA or above). 3. Good knowledge of microprocessors, hardware interface, and programming. 4. Linux kernel (network, block or serial) drivers, GNU development tools, and Linux systems interface. 5. Experience in 'C', Linux Shell, and some scripting (Perl, TCL, or Python) programming. 6. Knowledge in MIPS or MIPS assembly (a plus). 7. Knowledge of Linux OS and tool chain release, profiling tools, debugging tools is a plus. 7. Monitor and keep abreast of Linux open source development and status. 8. Excellent oral presentation and technical writing skills. 9. Self-motivated, excellent communication skills and ability to excel in a team environment. 10. Any industry experience is a plus.
