I just want to type: ssh smirnov I seem to have found the fix by writing: 0.0.0.0 smirnov.mae.wvu.edu smirnov into my /etc/hosts Andrei From: Andrei Smirnov <[email protected]> Date: Mar 2, 2007 10:45 AM Subject: Re: [Morlug] How to set hostnam alias To: Michael Bond <[email protected]> My fix above was a mistake! It actually created aliases for my local host not for the remote one. So, I still don't know how can I set alias for a remote host, so that instad of using this command to login: ssh remotename.remotedomain.com I could use this: ssh remotename Considering that I do not know the remote IP. Any suggestions? Andrei -- Andrei V.
