Should have forwarded that to the list:

simple, I don't want to type:

ssh smirnov.mae.wvu.edu

all the time when I want to connect to remote host.
I just want to type:

ssh smirnov

I seem to have found the fix by writing:

0.0.0.0 smirnov.mae.wvu.edu smirnov

into my /etc/hosts

My fix above was a mistake!
It actually created aliases for my local host not for the remote one.
So, I still don't know how can I set alias for a remote host, so that instad
of using this command to login:

ssh remotename.remotedomain.com

I could use this:

ssh remotename

Considering that I do not know the remote IP.
Any suggestions?
