I never used those live linux CD's myself and I am not sure how to create one. We may use and existing Knopix or whatever. But then we should offer precompiled executable of, say Octave (my favorite), which will run under that distribution. Maybe it is not that complicated and Octave binaries I am using on Fedora now will work, but I think those are dynamically linked. One may actually need to compile it from the sources, so that running it will be a matter of point and clinck, rater than rpm -i or something not trivial. The sources are available: ftp://ftp.octave.org/pub/octave/octave-2.1.73.tar.bz2 Will it compile smoothly on Live Linux CD of our choice - I don't know. Who will do that - I don't know.
