I've encountered 2 general ways of implementing such measures, depending how stringent you mean to get: either in a pass/fail condition, of as part of a scoring chain. Generally I'll set up hosts to only simply fail IP's from a DNSBL, but other counter-measures would add or remove to a total score & be rejected at a given threshold.
