Easy multisession CD ROM writing?

I've just spent 30 minutes on the phone talking my mother through using K3B
to write multi-session CDs. She wants to be a\ble to make CD backups of
each day's work at the end of the day.

The user experience isn't great with the biggest single problem being
having to go through preferences on each burn, selecting start a
multi-session on the first one and continue on subsequent ones. Being
prompted to save the data session on exit isn't great either ... if we were
going to be making multiple copies I could understand it, but this is
strictly one-off burning on the fly.

There has to be an easier way, can anyone recommend a method of making CD
backups that automatically starts a new multi-session on an empty disk and
continues otherwise?

Drag and drop of files would be a bonus but to complicate things, Mum runs
the KDE desktop, but has Nautilus aliased as "My files" on her desktop ...
I was trying to make the Windows 95 to Kubuntu migration as painless as
possible & Nautilus is more like the Windows 95 file manager than Dolphin.
