Twitter blocking access

Hi

This morning morning when attempting to access various web sites 
"Twitter" would intervene and prevent access with offers to join. With 
some shot in the dark "fiddling" in Preferences and a  second attempt 
could  access nmglug. Can anyone explain and offer the remedy.Thanks a
