Anyone familiar with Headless Wordpress?

Hi NMGLUG folks,

Is anyone familiar with Headless Wordpress?
I've heard that there are advantages, but I'm having difficulty in
discovering exactly what it is.
From what I've found, it seems pretty similar to what I'm already
doing.

Here's how I've been creating Wordpress pages and blog posts:
I use the Wordpress editor, but not any WYSIWYG editor. I use the text
editor, where I can put in HTML and CSS.
I create a txt file filled with HTML and a bit of inline CSS on my
local hard drive for each webpage or post.
I paste the contents of the txt file into the Wordpress editor, and it
works.
Based on the Wordpress theme settings, I get the page header created
for me and the nav menu. The material that I paste from the txt file
goes inside the html body.

So, can anybody tell me what Headless Wordpress is, its advantages and
how to use it?
