At the time, any OS provided by DEC on the Alpha ( Open VMS, Ultrix, or DEC UNIX ) would have gotten my attention. Contenders that I was exploring included OS/2, Win NT on RISC platforms. My first exposure to Linux was not especially impressive, since my graphics card was not among the chosen few that were then supported. In hind sight, this 64 bit OS achievement sounds like a significant milestone.
