I see this a lot. I would personally rather evangelize to those in
whom I have sufficient confidence; I don't care if my grandmother uses
it.  I know it's a reality that she can't -- and that it's simply not
the right thing for her.  Now, if I've got a friend who does a lot of
programming -- or in some respect has the technical capacity to use
and appreciate the spirit of linux -- then I'd try to get that person
to use it, if for no other reason than the gradual market impact that
has on using windows as a development platform.  I don't think linux
users should try to replace windows, or claim that linux has or should
have that potential; without windows sucking so bad, linux wouldn't be
so cool by contrast.  98% market dominance is one thing, but using the
right tool where appropriate is another.  Of course, if some folks
wanna take a linux distro and beef it up so that it's fit for the
Average User, that's ok -- but I'd rather not have that angst dominate
the entire linux community.

Just my two cents.
