And that's why most people are stuck using sucky software... they don't
function at a high enough level to expect (or need) anything better.

Utopian ideals aside, there's no particularly good reason why Linux (as
a whole) *should* care about becoming more user-friendly.  Maintaining a
fresh supply of newbies doesn't change my life one way or another.

BUT... there *are* tremendous opportunities for those who take it upon
themselves to put a friendly face on Linux.  The software, in general,
is solid...what *really* needs improving now are the client-to-expert
human interfaces.  Building *those* can be quite lucrative.
