one DNS breakthrough for me was to realize i could setup a DNS server,
have my friends point their DNS resolution at it, and thereby have our
very own private-like net using our names and crude things and all for
free, no domain registration required. if you dont want to get
popular, who needs em

now i use that concept at work for intranets

btw, DNS in OS X 10.3 seems badly broken to me via their server
manager tool. i just use the command-line instead
