It'll play just fine in mplayer, vlc, totem and Windows Media Player
(installed Crossover Office). But when I try to convert it I get a file
that plays just static in Audacity. In fact, Audacity will open the
original WMA file, but it also plays just static.

At this juncture it appears the problem is in Audacity, not the
conversion tools I am trying to use.
