whats the diff. between vmlinuz and vmlinuz-sata-2.4.39?

Good day!!! I am wondering why when I select Linux(image = /boot/vmlinuz) on the boot loader, I cant proceed or start X, but when I chose Sata-2.4.29(image=/boot/vmlinuz- sata-2.4.39) it works fine.... I am not using sata(if that means the SATA harddrive) but since is works I'm just the second option on the bootloader.. Does the two choices have different X configuration? By the way I'm using a 17" monitor. Thank you po... -- Alexander P.
