Hi Alex, sometimes, the developers of your fave distro would just symlink vmlinuz to the default kernel. To see if this is the case, do bash$ ls -l /boot and check if vmlinuz is a symlink (and see to what file it is pointing to). I don't think they have different xorg.conf, (because you only have one under /etc). What they might have different are the modules (if they are really different files after all). If vmlinuz doesn't work for you (maybe because it isn't there in the first place; or the file it is pointing to) and sata-2.4.29 does, then you can just make your symlink by bash# cd /boot bash# ln -sf vmlinuz-sata-2.4.39 vmlinuz bash# lilo -v and you're all set.
