According to your post, it's libdvdread that utilizes that stuff. :)
I checked the source code and I can't pin down the irregularity there. Is
your libdvdread compiled from source or you also got it from
linuxpackages.net?

The error message is quite puzzling. :(  If you are connected to the
internet, maybe you can use swaret to see if you have the latest stuff:
#swaret --update
#swaret --upgrade xine-ui
#swaret --upgrade xine-lib
#swaret --upgrade libdvdread
