type the following to make sure you got a response from the dhcp server

1. To check if you were assigned an IP
#ifconfig

2. To check if you were assigned a default gateway
#route -n

3. To check if you were assigned a dns server
#cat /etc/resolv.conf

4. If all checks out, try if you could reach google
#ping www.google.com
