I just wanted to encourage _everyone_ in SVLUG (those of us in the Bay
Area) to come hear Allan's talk. Two reasons:

One, it doesn't matter if this sounds too esoteric or outside your
interests; it definitely sounds like it's going to be a very
entertaining show, judging by the slides Allan has already published.
Sounds like it's going to be eye-popping.

Two, I suspect this is going to be SVLUG's final lecture meeting.
Nobody (yet) is stepping forward to line up speakers, and I've made
clear for years that I'm not good at it and can't really keep doing it
by myself. So, to make things crystal-clear: I'm stepping back and
_not_ being SVLUG's fill-in speaker coordinator, starting now. Someone
or someones else would need to find speakers, starting _now_ to plan
fopr Septeber and after. The next meeting dates are:

Wed., Sept. 7, 2016
Wed., Oct. 5, 2016
Wed., Nov. 2, 2016
Wed., Dec. 7, 2016

Miss finding presentations for a couple of those, and it's very likely
SVLUG will lose the ability to use Vcafe, and I doubt it would be able
to get that back. (We're a grandfathered-in exception to Symantec's
policy of no longer having outside groups permitted to meet at its
headquarters campus.)

Want to line up speakers? It's not difficult. Any problems/questions,
consult the Volunteers mailing list,
http://lists.svlug.org/lists/listinfo/volunteers .

That (no more lectures after August 2016, SVLUG pretty soon loses Vcafe)
is the _default_ outcome, I do believe. SVLUG could then opt to just
have group dinners at Frankie, Johnny, & Luigi's Two Restaurant at 7pm
on 1st Wednesdays, for those who like me enjoy that.

And of course the mailing list and Web presence can persist (though
the group will have to bother to pay its Internet domain renewals).

(As a reminder, too, I have aspired to _not_ run SVLUG, as I already
run CABAL and don't care to run two LUGs. So, run your group for a
change, as I don't wish to. Thanks.)
