Those SSD problems are very random and honestly, I would never have guessed it would cause so many problems if I haven't experienced it myself. One very strange issue was the display would start to leave artifacts on the screen, after you closed a window, part of the frame would stay on the screen. Even a refresh of the desktop would not solve the problem. The drive I had was an OCZ Vertex 3 which used the Sandforce controller, at the time it was very well known to lock up and after a few firmware patches they said it was fixed. But my problems continued, while my friend's system had no issues on the same drive. So I finally swapped to an HDD, then a Samsung Evo which has been running great since then. Work has also reported a higher rate of failure with SSD's in the data center for writing stalls and issues like this, but I can't say which vendor they are using.
