in general this is a good idea for spreading the event:

If there are organizations within a reasonable distance from you which you 
think might be interested in hosting such an event in the future (adult 
education centers, companies, universities, schools) then invite someone from 
them to your event. If they like it then they can help you with your next 
event as part of your staff, and that would be the perfect preparation for 
doing their own event later. The more events there are in an area the easier 
it should be to get covered by the local media.


BTW, whatever may be the reason for that: I have received eight responses 
(from 43 US recipients) within not even 24 hours. That is a world record. With 
a big gap to the second best. Thus I would not be surprised if the US event 
would be the biggest one but Germany. Guess what may happen when the 
invitations to participate do not come from the other side of the planet any 
more but people from the US try to gain new locations...
