One thing I'd try early (but after doing a complete backup) is open the computer, and start wiggling wires, bending boards, and the like. Maybe Freon and a heat gun too. This might not shed info, but if it's intermittent hardware it could quickly narrow down what otherwise would take a loooooong time to discover. Do the stuff others suggested. If you have a known good power supply, it takes only 20 minutes to swap it in and run with that for a few days. Intermittents are a bear, aren't they?
