Can't Get to Captive Portal Login Page at Workplace Guest Network

Hi,

Have a very odd situation regarding guest network at my workplace.

Can get to the login page at workplace guest network with no problem on various devices, except for one. 

The guest network login page is type where you have to click on a checkbox that you agree to terms and conditions and then click on ‘Login’ button.

Problem is on this one device (Planet Computer 'Gemini PDA’), running Debian 9, it won’t open the login page. Get error message in Chromium and Firefox, that page is unreachable. Have also tried using Connman and NetworkManager.

Another odd thing is that I’m dual booting Gemini with Android and Debian 9. If I boot to Android, it does get to login page.

Have successfully gotten to login page on another laptop (Lenovo Flex 10)  using Debian 9 Live. So, assume this is not a Debian 9 issue?

Checked resolv.conf file and they are the same content on Gemini and Lenovo.

"$ cat /etc/resolv.conf

Have tried all the usual suggestions from reading online about this type of issue, but none have worked.

Error message in Chromium:

"This site can't be reached

Shows URL and says 'is unreachable' at end of URL

ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE”


I went to a nearby cafe and Gemini running Debian 9 was able to get to their login page with no problem.

Have no problem connecting Gemini running Debian 9 to my wifi network at home, but of course, it’s different setup.

Have tried typing in the network IP address in browser, typing in neverssl.com, etc.


When trying using Connman, in the Details tab, it says:

"Unable to connect

In URL field, I see:

10.224.128.40/upload/custom/PK-EDGE-CP/index.html?cmd=login&mac=00:09:34:5a:84:5c&ip=192.168.0.11&essid=%20&url=http%3A%2F%2neverssl%2Ecom%2F

* Please note I changed a few letters, numbers  in gateway and url above….


Tried ping and got:

Tried connecting to guest network again and got:

"This site can't be reached

ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED"


Hope this isn’t too much info….but thought it might save some time or iterations of posting more info.

Any ideas how to figure out what is causing problem of reaching the login page?
