Markus, good to hear from you again. As you'll see in the mailing list
thread 'SVLUG meetings, and lack of' that I started in mid-January
(http://lists.svlug.org/archives/svlug/2019-January/date.html), Kevin
Dankwardt, the generous volunteer who had been both providing the
meeting venue and finding speakers for his place of work (Cavium in
north San Jose), moved to San Francisco and (I think) got a different
job. So, the Cavium meeting space ceased (AFAIK) to be available to
SVLUG, and at the same time the one person lining up speakers ceased
doing so.

When I started that thread on January 16th, I warned that there's a
tendency for people to merely post 'ideas' and that the essential
ingredient would be someone declaring a date/time/place for an SVLUG
event (with, by implication, a commitment to be there) -- that, unless
that happened, nothing would result. I said that, if anyone would do
only that much, I would be glad to immediately add it to the SVLUG
schedule and send out a timely announcement. I suggested starting
modestly, such as with a 1st Wednesday evening social dinner at Frankie,
Johnny, & Luigi's Too Restaurant in Mountain View, the traditional
after-meeting dinner venue from our long years of meeting at Symantec,
nearby.

The result: A bunch of people posted 'ideas'. Nobody declared a
date/time/place for anything. And therefore, nothing happened.

So, there things stand, unless/until someone gets a clue and declares a
date/time/place. (The mailing lists remain available.)

As I stressed in a follow-up post the next day (Jan. 17), I insist that
someone that is not me drive the creation of a new SVLUG event (as
described above) because I've never volunteered to 'run' SVLUG in the
first place, because I already run CABAL, the LUG that meets every 2nd
Saturday at my and my wife's house in Menlo Park.
