Firstly, I hate to allow Meetup.com to appropriate the nice word "meetup",
but, I can understand the sensitivity. I happen to like the informal
connotation, to me, of "meetup" over the more formal "meeting" and also
the connotation of getting together in-person. I have, BTW, made it my goal
to always support this getting together in-person aspect and not pursue
streaming of the events.

Also, it never was a requirement for any of the SVLUG's that I organized
and announced on the SVLUG Meetup.com page, that one had to sign up via
Meetup. Rick Moen would also announce the events on the calendar on
svlug.org, and send out an email to the svlug list, and anyone seeing
those was always welcome to come. It appeared to me, though, that folks
nearly always did signup via Meetup, perhaps because Meetup.com provided
some value to them. Meetup.com is where I put notes and links etc so that
perhaps was the value. I used to ask who came from the Meetup announcement
and who from the svlug announcements but after it seemed like just about
everyone was using the meetup.com pages I stopped asking.

So, for this key-signing meeting, I will pause and see if someone wants to
step up and follow Rick's steps and make this happen. If someone wants to
step up and would like some help, then feel free to reach out to me. It
would great to see this happen.
