Passing along to actual readers on SVLUG's main mailing list. I'm sure Mr. Sawyer would be interested in any well-considered thoughts. (I have no reason to think he's on [email protected], so make sure he gets a direct copy of your mail irrespective of whether you also send it here. Thanks.) ----- Forwarded message from [email protected] ----- From: Daniel Sawyer <danielsawyer-30IwKtKq/fj2fBVCVOL8/[email protected]> Date: Wed, 22 May 2019 18:02:00 -0400 To: [email protected] Subject: Creating LUG at University Hi, I am a CS PhD student at the University of South Florida and we are planning on creating a LUG here at our university. I know you guys are the oldest LUG in the country and was wondering if you guys had any advice and/or some basic curriculum you guys use for linux newbies. We are planning on focusing it towards dev envs and research use of linux for undergrads and grads who have minimal/no linux experience. You would be surprised how many undergrads, and even grad students, who have no clue how to do basic things in a linux cli. Thanks for your time and I appreciate any help you guys can provide. ----- End forwarded message -----
