If I had to make that decision, I would go with SSD. Why, unlike servers
which stay up for long time and hence likely to use RAM more heavily, a
laptop will need restarting often.

The OSX filesystem is also crappy so dollars spent on SSD would have a lot
more effect. Plus, with 16GB, you are already at a point of diminishing
results as far as RAM is concerned
