Hello all.

Its getting near time for the next NPLUG (Non Profit Linux Users Group)
meeting. This months topic will actually be a planning meeting for
setting up a server and fire wall at Deborah's Place,
http://www.deborahsplace.org/main.jsp?key=who a community based
organization that serves homeless and formerly homeless woman with a
broad range of programs.

Deborah's place has recently gotten their second location wired, and
they have ordered all of the necessary hardware to get a network up and
running, with our help! Their volunteer admin, Chris Reisor has decided
to use SME Server 5.5 http://www.e-smith.org/ to do file, print and mail
service. The network will sit behind an IPCOP http://ipcop.org firewall
and make a WAN/VPN connection via static IP to the Deborah's place PDC
which is running MS Small Business Server and Exchange.

We plan to meet at Deborah's Place on Saturday September 28, 2002 to
implement this really cool and ambitious project, BUT as I mentioned, we
defiantly need to put our heads together before we go out, to make sure
we have everything we need and that we know what we're doing. Neither
Chris nor I have ever tried to implement such a robust networking
project, so expert advice and interested parties are encouraged to
attend and put in their two cents!!!

So here goes:

What: NPLUG planning meeting for upcoming network build-out at Deborah's
Place

Where: Korean American Community Services, 4300 North California Ave
(near the intersection of California and Montrose) Chicago IL

When: 6:30 PM Thursday August 19, 2002

Thanks!

John
