First of all, I am very much grateful for the replies I received to my first set of questions, and I believe I have a fairly firm grasp on what was said. However, a few more questions arose from those explanations...if you help me, I promise not to bother this list again for at least a few more weeks... ;-) 1. If I have that "Embedded Adaptec AIC-7899 dual channel Ultra3 (Ultra160)/LVD SCSI" controller, in order to hook up two SCSI drives to it, I just need to make a SCSI chain or whatnot, right...? (Can you tell I am a complete cluebie when it comes to hardware, especially SCSI?) I will be Googling about the subject in a second. 2. If we have two drives in a RAID 1 configuration, and one fails, what would the effect be? From my readings, it seems as if 3 drives in RAID 5 would handle this just fine, but RAID 1 would not handle this well. If hardware RAID was being done, what would need to be done in order to get the system in working order? What about with software RAID? 3. If a RAID 1 drive fails, and a new one is put in as a replacement, what would need to be done to get it up to speed, as far as getting it in sync as a mirror? How about if a drive fails in RAID 5? 4. Would a server running a P3 1.13Ghz with 256Mb PC133 ECC SDRAM be able to handle software RAID (Windows 2000 Server...ugh)? Would making it 512Mb RAM help? Geez, I feel bad about asking all these questions, especially because they aren't Linux-related ;( Anyway, if anyone is kind enough to help me again, I will be forever in debt. You guys are really saving my butt right now. I will also hit Google to see what I can find, but the information I get from one post on this list seems more helpful than 10 web sites.
