Athlon laptop

I was at the CompUSA on Michigan Avenue today, and I saw a Compaq 
Presario 905 for about $1100. It had a 1.6 GHx Athlon, 30 GB hard drive, 
and 256 MB of memory. It looked like a pretty good deal. Not the top of 
the line, but not behind the times either.

Since we've seen desktop machines for under $500, any guesses on when we 
will see new laptops for under $1000?
