This just seems all wrong to me. I love old tech more than the next guy, but I'm not about to pay a grand for a knock-off "next gen" computer when it's clearly not worth that. I could see if this cost between $200-$400, it wouldn't be so bad, but $1000 is a rip off, I would much rather try to get ahold of the real deal if I was to spend at least that much.
