Great, I'm sure there is plenty of room in Chicago for
another LUG. There are a number of active LUGs in Chicago,
ranging from smaller informal gatherings to larger
formalized meetings.
In addition to the HOWTOs I'd suggest making the rounds at
the various LUGs in the area. That way you can find out what
you like and dislike about each group. Who knows, maybe
you'll end up finding a group that fits what you want and is
close enough for you.
Most of the LUGs post meeting announcements to the LUNI
list, so watch there for up coming meetings.
Just FYI, I help run the NWCLUG group which meets at Harper
College. We generally attact between 20-25 people, depending
on the topic, the weather, and the phase of the moon.
As far as mailing lists go, we recommend our users to join
the LUNI list. NWCLUG pulled from too small a base to
support a list by itself. Our list is still there, but the
only postings I ever see on it are Mikie's postings for the
upcoming meeting <g>.
