Help on resizing partitions with GParted

Hi,

I need advice in changing the partitioning on my dual boot (WinXP /
Ubuntu10.04) notebook.

I am having problems because I am almost out of space on my Linux
partition.  I am not able to install some larger updates.  From what I am
hearing, GParted LiveCD is probably the best tool for this.  I am not sure
where to get the space from, but worst case I think I can make my NTFS
partition 2G smaller and make this available for my Linux ext4 partition.  I
have a 160G hard disk and there is a large 107G lvm2 partition but GParted
says it can not resize this.  I don't know what the lmv2 partition is for.

Hear is what GParted reports:

I want to add about 2G to the /dev/sda5 ext4 partition.

Can someone suggest the best approach.  BTW I have never used GParted.  I
used to use Partion Magic.

This is what I think I would do:
Reduce the /dev/sda1 NTFS partition by 2 G
Move the /dev/sda4 extended partition up
Move the /dev/sda5 partition up and increase by 2G
The other partitions would remain the same.

Also, it looks like my linux swap partition may be too small.  I read that
it should be about the size of RAM, which is 2G in this case.  Unless I can
somehow free up the LVM partition space I don't seem to have enough free
space to also increase swap partition much.

I am probably going to work on this during the weekend.  I have had a number
of different configurations on the notebook, including Ubuntu in Windows
with WUBI and Fedora 12 - both removed.  I have Sun Virtual Box installed on
WinXP and have experimented with running Ubuntu 10.04 on top of Windows.
