Now, see, this is just not how it works.  Oh, I'm sure there are emails
in that style out there, but they're from people every bit as lazy and
inconsiderate of others as the top posters.  :-/

The choice you ignore, even though it's still very common in every list
I'm hooked up to, the *good* choice, is to keep the important part of
the old message(s) and append one's pithy thoughts in that context.  If
that makes it hard for some nitwit with an inadequate display because
my first words don't appear out of context at the top when he opens it,
well, I don't much care for the sorts of replies such folks usually
write.  They are who Twitter was meant for.
