That's more or less exactly what the guys working on the sky survey did a few years back. They would setup a RAID5 array of the necessary size, load it up, and ship the disks about as needed. In their case I *think* the arrays needed ran to not more than five disks, and they shipped a [relatively] inexpensive drive cage and a 3ware card. If you can count on enough clue at the receiving end to reassemble a less structured array, just send drives. Uhm... if it's moving, maybe you just send whatever array it's on now?
