It seems to be an Ralink rt2860 based card. I have had good luck with
their usb wireless chips. The company provides open source drivers which
work well, even for older kernels.
There is also a rewritten driver in recent kernels.

Both drivers should support AP mode. The driver included in the kernel
should support all the standard interfaces.

Ralink's driver might need to be configured with iwpriv, although there
is also a configuration file you might need to mess around with.

I haven't tried AP mode on any of my adapters. They do work in monitor
mode though.
