Apparently not, though I won't swear I'd know about it if it was added
in the last half decade, or maybe more.  :-/

Yeah, a wheel that's been reinvented any number of times.  I googled, I
found what I thought was what I used to use, I got a hint of how to
almost trivially replace it for the specific use case, I closed the tab
with the Google search.  Lazy.  :-)
